Learning Circles:
Our circles use poetry, books and participative exploration in order to find bridges between science and spirit, for ourselves. We find ways to connect these two aspects of life creatively and communally. As we stretch our minds, we exercise our brains in new ways, opening to new vistas. Science is learning that brains that keep learning, keep bodies healthy longer. Please consider joining us.
Led by Doug Seeley, our meetings are on alternate Tuesdays, 9:15 am to 11:45, in the board room at the farmhouse. The sessions run from late September until the end of May. Recent material has included cosmology, brain science, cellular communication, linguistics, Sufi and modern poetry, and Buddhist activism.
Our Learning Circles are in dialogue style; that is, we explore how each of us finds meaning in the materials that we study, with openness, reflection and mutual respect. We place an emphasis upon deep listening, and to allowing the feelings and meaning coming each other to affect us. In this approach, we make space for our minds to grow and change, which keeps our brains young, for we are making meaning together.

Spaghetti Night: An opportunity for a casual, fun meal, with church
members and friends, 6pm on the second Friday of every month in the Sanctuary.
By donation, bring salad or desert to share if you choose.
Circle Dinners: Here's a pleasing way to get to know other church members.
These potluck dinners are held the last Friday of the month. Six to eight people,
with the host organizing who brings what dish. Relaxed and friendly. To join
this group, please phone the office.
The Spirituality Group: This group is composed
of U*Us who acknowledge the existence of a higher spiritual presence in the universe
and who wish to bring their lives into harmony with that presence. They meet one
Sunday evening a month, in the home of one of their members, for a potluck supper
and a time of meditation and sharing. To make contact, call the church office.
Book Worms: We have seven members at the moment, meeting in each other's
homes for about two hours on the second and fourth Tuesdays; we bring the books
we are reading, comment on them, exchange books. Phone the church office for
a contact number.
